STRATEGIC ELEMENTS

Membership
In principle and in practice, PMAB values and seeks a diverse membership. Individual viewpoints and contributions are pursued and respected. There are no barriers to full participation in PMAB on the basis of ethnic background, gender, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, or disability.

Professional Recognition
Education and professional recognition are essential elements of PMAB's mission. PMABoston consistently develops and offers dynamic educational programs which provide quality training in purchasing, logistics and supply chain management. PMAB programs strive to be flexible, timely, and relevant to the educational and training needs of the various interests of the membership.

Certification
PMAB is committed to increasing participation in the C.P.M. and A.P.P. certification program.

Research
PMAB supports research in purchasing, materials logistics and supply chain management fields. Through alliances with educational institutions; support of CAPS and others who participate in research in the purchasing/logistics field, PMAB augments the visibility and professional knowledge of its members.

Communication
Improving communications with our members, ISM, other affiliates and associations, materials management practitioners in the public and private sector, and with the broader business community is vital to PMAB's success. Through its staff, board of directors, committees and members, PMAB endeavors to be an open ear to the needs and interests of the profession.

Membership meetings, letters, flyers, the Job List and a Web page (www.pmaboston.org) are PMAB's primary communication links to its membership. The Regional Survey of Business Conditions is an economic forecast published for members as well as the business community, particularly economists and forecaster, and the press.

International
PMAB is the local affiliate for most ISM international members and, as such, has a unique opportunity to dialog with a global cadre of purchasing professionals. PMAB strives to offer its members a cosmopolitan view of world-class purchasing, and fosters an understanding of international commerce through membership meeting and educational programs.

Resources
Responsibility for PMAB rests in multiple groups: the board of directors, staff, committees and members. PMAB values the effort, knowledge and commitment of all volunteers and staff, and organizes itself to maintain continuity, encourage participation and maximize efficiency.

Leadership
PMAB's strength is the professionalism and diversity of its membership and the skills of its staff. The association is committed to creating maximum opportunities for volunteers' and members' professional growth within available financial and human resources.
